Ingredients

Scale
  • Fresh Ingredients for Japanese Detox Beverage
Fresh ingredients like green tea leaves, ginger, and lemon for a Japanese detox beverage.

1-2 teaspoons of sencha green tea leaves or 1 tea bag

  • 1 teaspoon of matcha powder (high-quality ceremonial grade matcha recommended)
  • 1-inch piece of fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 teaspoon of honey or agave syrup (optional, to taste)
  • 2 cups of water

Instructions

  1. Preparing Japanese detox tea with green tea leaves
Preparing the Japanese detox tea by steeping green tea leaves.

Boil the water: Start by boiling water in a kettle or saucepan. You’ll need about 2 cups of water for each serving.

  2. Steep the green tea: Once the water has come to a boil, steep the sencha green tea for 3-5 minutes. If you’re using a tea bag, simply place it in the water. If you’re using loose-leaf tea, use a tea infuser or strain it later.
  3. Add the matcha: In a separate bowl, whisk the matcha powder with a little bit of hot water to form a smooth paste. Once the matcha paste is smooth, add it to the brewed green tea and stir well.
  4. Add fresh ginger: Grate about 1 inch of fresh ginger and add it to the mixture. Stir well to combine the flavors.
  5. Sweeten: If you prefer your detox beverage sweetened, add a teaspoon of honey or agave syrup. Stir to ensure it dissolves completely.
  6. Serve: You can serve the beverage hot or let it cool down and serve it over ice for a refreshing cold drink.

Notes

Enjoy this beverage in the morning to boost your energy or as a pre-workout drink to keep you energized.
